Android 4.0 ROMs leaked for HTC Sensation and Sensation XE

6c0ac__htc_ics_feature

There's something I love about Android, and that's ROMs. I love all the developers out there who work hard and deliver stuff beyond the possibilities. Now such stuff is coming towards the HTC Sensation and Sensation XE. We all know that Sensation is  one of HTC's best devices so far. Two "release candidate" ICS ROMs are leaked for the original Sensation and XE, and I want to mention it first that it's risky business, so if you are good at hacking and stuff then do it, otherwise don't take the … [Read more...]

MIUI 4 for Kindle Fire Now Available for Download

83010__miui-1-180x300

It looks like MIUI 4 – the beautiful custom ROM based on Android 4.0 – is now available for the Amazon Kindle Fire. The ROM isn’t quite the same as its phone counterpart in terms of user interface yet but you do get a nice package of the many MIUI-specific applications available, including the custom file manager and backup utility. Both the Android Market and the Amazon Appstore are supported so users shouldn’t have any issue finding the apps and games they need. If the … [Read more...]

Carrier Coverage Launches On Android Market

30be3__carrier_coverage-300x300

The Carrier-IQ scandal still hasn’t blown over, but now a pro-consumer alternative – called Carrier Coverage – has found its way to Android Market. The app collects real data from real users to piece together an accurate and unbias picture of carrier coverage, segmented by location, carrier, and device. If the app gains a critical mass of users, it could become the defacto standard for independent carrier coverage information. The team is already planning additional features such … [Read more...]

Screenshot_2012-02-04-23-56-09_thumb

When last we checked—mere minutes ago—ICS 4.0.4 source code hadn't been released to the public. Which is why we were surprised to learn that 4.0.4 was available unofficially for the Nexus S 4G. Today, the mysterious Android version that's forcing me to resist a "page not found" joke is showing up in a few forums, this time for the Galaxy Nexus. Users on several forums are saying they've received prompts to download and install new updates that crank the version number up to 4.0.4. … [Read more...]

6e9eb__att-note-source

Samsung is releasing the source code for the Galaxy Note on AT&T but there's a catcg. As you can see from the picture above, there are three different versions of the source. A clever reader from AndroidPolice found out that the only difference is just one line of code, but we'll leave it up to you to find out what it does, if you're so inclined. Now that the source code is released, we'll likely see more development on the Galaxy Note. Let the custom ROMs and kernels commence! Eager to … [Read more...]

Touch Clockworkmod Recovery released for a number of devices, courtesy of Koush

1a099__image113-168x300

Clockworkmod is without doubt the most useful tool for rooters and ROM installers. Providing detailed functions like backup and restore, wiping options, and of course installing ROMs. As awesome as it may be, it can be a bit of a pain to navigate around all those options, as you have to do it using the volume buttons and the power button. To solve this, Koush has added touch to Clockworkmod and adjusted the interface to complement this. Scrolling may not be buttery smooth, and there still is … [Read more...]

d1303__cyanogenmod

Epic 4G Touch (Sprint's Galaxy SII) owners will be happy to see a public release of CyanogenMod v9. As many of you may be aware, CM9 is a custom version of Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This version, which has been posted on XDA and RootzWiki is still quite experimental.  No WiFi, Bluetooth or Camera yet. Several other things are also not functional, but it is still a very exciting time for E4GT owners. More information and download links available below.   IMPORTANT … [Read more...]

CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 0 for the Samsung Epic 4G Available

9a9b0__Epic-4g-2

While the original Epic 4G never saw a truly stable release of CyanogenMod 7, the Epic CM team are making a lot of great progress with CyanogenMod 9. The Android 4.0-based ROM brings a stock Android offering for those who’d rather not deal with TouchWiz. An “alpha 0″ build was posted yesterday and it looks pretty good for its stats. The list of bugs and things not working is quite long but none of them are experiencing-breaking features. Take a look at the full list here. If all … [Read more...]
