HTC EVO 4G LTE unboxing and hands-on

Androidear

We’ve finally gotten our hands on a review unit of the HTC EVO 4G LTE. I took the device back to my hotel eager to bring you guys a look at the device’s packaging, as well as what to expect when the device hits your doorstep as this is pretty much what you’ll get at retail. The device’s 1.5GHz S4 processor and 1GB of RAM make for a snappy software experience, and HTC Sense 4.0 also contributes to that smooth experience by optimizing in ways that previous renditions haven’t. The 8 … [Read more...]

The ASUS Padfone has been highly anticipated since it was first announced well over a year ago. After a bit of retooling it re-debuted earlier this year at Mobile World Congress, much to the intrigue of all in attendance. With a smartphone that docks into a tablet that in turn mates with a keyboard dock, ASUS has all the bases pretty much covered. The Padfone is launching soon and our friends over at NetbookNews got their hands on a production unit and gave it the full hands on treatment. Get a … [Read more...]

Use a Bluetooth headset as a remote shutter button with the HTC One X

c7e10__htc-one-x-550x343

Chinese site ePrice uncovered a nifty trick involving the HTC One X’s already stellar camera. Using a Bluetooth headset, the phone’s shutter can be triggered remotely for hands-free photo capture. The video demonstrating the capability shows three different headsets performing the task, each using a not-so-intuitive button combo to snap off photos. The trick likely works with other headsets but it may take some trial and error before figuring out exactly how many times to press which … [Read more...]

It’s Not Android, but Samsung has a Prototype Device Running an OS Called Tizen

704b7__Screen-Shot-2012-05-09-at-7.41.54-PM

Well here is something random that came about today. A prototype Samsung device, not running Android but running an OS called “Tizen”. What is Tizen? Pretty much a simplified, TouchWiz looking OS that really is not pretty at all. Then again this is just a prototype so there is not much to expect here. The guy in the video goes over the features of Tizen, and when you watch the video you can see it is very basic. No animation transitions, no widgets, almost looks like someone put a … [Read more...]

Carly is at it Again with New T-Mobile Commercial Showing Off ‘Fast Songs’ for the HTC One S

AndroiDear_a78bc__Screen-Shot-2012-05-09-at-1.27.03-PM

When Carly first came to us with her squeaky clean image and perky attitude, I did not really care so much. Yeah she is cute, but I do not need this to let me know about the awesome carrier I have been using for 7 years is. But now that the HTC One S has come out and they have thrown some tight black leather on her, I changed my mind. She went from cute to HOT. Now we have a third T-Mobile commercial spot for the “badass” Carly showing the speed of syncing your music on the One S. Get your … [Read more...]

Kyocera Hydro First Look

kyocera-rise-hydro-androidear

Kyocera made a couple of key announcements. One of the phones they were excited to unveil was the Kyocera Hydro, a full-touch smartphone that, for the time being, is completely stock Android 4.0. The device was running on Qualcomm’s 1GHz 8655 single-core processor. I can’t say that I was shocked to see decent performance despite having such an old and slow processor. The processor still isn’t that bad and Android 4.0 is, of course, faster than its predecessors. The phone has been … [Read more...]

Qualcomm showcases 5.1 Dolby Digital recording

Qualcomm Atheros

Qualcomm had an interesting demo tucked away in the back of their booth next to their amazing coffee shop. They were showcasing a device that has been equipped with the ability to record audio in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound in real-time. We were asked to try and identify which side a train was coming from. Two trains were coming at the same time, but one would make it past our ears before the other one. Myself and the other guy sitting with me noticed which direction it was coming from … [Read more...]

Qualcomm shows off the world’s first autostereoscopic 3D tablet

6d535__Qualcommsssss

Qualcomm had a lavish booth at CTIA and I had to go over there to see what was new. Little did I know I’d be running into the world’s first autostereoscopic 3D tablet. It was a Qualcomm-branded developer device, but it was still nice to see a tablet, one with a 1920×1200 resolution, able to produce stereoscopic 3D and convert 2D to 3D. It was just one of many demos and achievements Qualcomm showcases to let people know that S4 is the bee’s knees. Grab a look at the video … [Read more...]

Stick It! Sorry Samsung, your Pop-up Play is not ground breaking we are already doing it

AndroiDear_ebcee__stickit2

Wah Wah Wah... Samsung your already un-impressive performance at the "Next Galaxy" event earlier this month has been proved even less impressive. If you are unsure of what i'm referring to, last week Samsung introduced their latest super phone the Galaxy SIII and showcased many of it's "ground breaking" new features. Well these new features, in my opinion, were less than ground breaking software addons. One of these was the "pop-up play" which allowed the user to take  a youtube video and … [Read more...]
