Say Hello to the Galaxy R; Tegra 2, SLCD and More

Just when I was finally getting excited for the Galaxy S 2 to finally hit states side, Samsung has to go and announce another device. Sadly this is slated to hit European and Asian markets. It already available in Sweden. Samsung has had a very successful run since the Galaxy S was originally introduced to the world. Now we have a new Galaxy device slated for the world, the Galaxy R. Not all the specs of this new device have been released yet, but enough is available to give you a … [Read more...]

Samsung Galaxy S II Passes Through FCC With NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor

As with the other Samsung devices we’re now seeing multiple variants of the new Galaxy S II passing through the FCC. The most current of these being the GT-i9103,which features the NVIDA Tegra 2 processor rather than the Samsung Exynos chip we’ve seen in others. Of course this news doesn’t come as surprise as it was already suggested that something like this might occur upon seeing this handset visit different regions for cost and availability purposes. It’s possible that … [Read more...]

Samsung Galaxy S II Passes Through the FCC with Nvidia Tegra 2

It’s easy to get lost in all the code names Samsung uses for their Galaxy S line of phones and the Galaxy S II is no different. Take the Galaxy S II GT-I9103 for instance. This device just made its way past the FCC but unlike its brothers, the GT-I9100 and GT-I9101, this one seems to be coming equipped with an Nvidia Tegra 2 on board. Originally, the Galaxy S II was introduced with Samsung’s own Exynos chip and performance-wise, was right up there with the Nvidia’s Tegra 2 … [Read more...]

Galaxy on Fire 2 now available for Tegra 2 Android devices

Galaxy on Fire 2 -- one of the most visually stunning games we've ever played on Android -- is now available in the Android Market and in NVIDIA's Tegra Zone app. GoF2 is a space-based saga where you're stuck working for a mining colony (not exactly of your on free will) and alternate between working for the man and blowing up bad guys for the man. The story line's fine and all, but it's the gameplay that's stunning. An on-screen joystick controls your ships and weapons, and you're … [Read more...]

Qualcomm’s Single-Core Snapdragon Takes On Nvidia’s Dual-Core Tegra 2 For Flash Content Supremecy [Video]

You guys may remember a few weeks back when I posted a video from Qualcomm that many shrugged off as nothing more than hot-air. In the video, Qualcomm explained that their single-core Snapdragon chipsets were superior than the dual-core offerings from their competitors (namely, Nvidia’s Tegra 2). I watched the video, I soaked it all in and when it was done, I immediately called bs. Well, perhaps I was a bit too hasty in my judgment because I just came across this little nugget … [Read more...]

Did Motorola drop Tegra 2 in favor of TI OMAP in the Droid Bionic?

When Motorola unveiled the Droid Bionic at CES in January, one of the central focuses of the device was its NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. We know the story since then. Rumors began swirling that the phone was to be cancelled in favor of a different device, to which Moto responded that the Bionic would still ship, albeit after some modifications. Which brings us to a recent benchmark test submitted to NenaMark purportedly from the dual-core handset. Curiously, the benchmark indicated an … [Read more...]

THIS Is Why You’ll Want a Tegra 3 Device [SHADOWGUN]

Wondering how you can justify a device with more power than today’s netbooks (and even some notebooks)? NVIDIA’s Kal-El processor – aka Tegra 3 – is coming along nicely and developers are currently optimizing some great looking games for it. One of those games is SHADOWGUN. It was created using Unity, a multi-platform development engine that’s as powerful as it is affordable. We aren’t exactly nearing Heavy Rain, Gears of War or Uncharted 3 here, but for a mobile device these … [Read more...]
