Earlier today the AOSP got a new source to work with, Android 4.0.4. This news definitely made a few people in the development community happy. The new incremental update is said to have hundreds of small changes that make the overall experience even better, not sure how that is possible. Google engineer Jean-Baptiste Queru made the news public via Google Groups and offered up a little more insight. Stating that it has “stability improvements, better camera performance, smoother screen … [Read more...]

After a mysterious “soak test” was opened up to a select few Motorola Xoom WiFi owners, we were left scratching our heads on what Motorola could have planned. Well, an email to Droid-Life this evening has detailed exactly what to expect from this test, as build number IMM76 begins its official rollout any day now. The Android 4.0.4 update is said to include quicker screen rotation (seriously, that’s a huge Android pet peeve of mine), new screen lock setting, camera improvements … [Read more...]

Select customers of the Motorola Xoom WiFi have been receiving E-Mails, inquiring regarding their desire to help test out the latest update for their tablet. It should be a simple minor release, with a few bug fixes here and there, and some smidgens of performance improvements. What we can’t say, though, is whether the build number will move to 4.0.4 or 4.0.5 (there have been some rumors regarding the latter), but that doesn’t matter that much, does … [Read more...]

Motorola XOOM WiFi Getting Soak Test

We’ve just received a tip that the Motorola XOOM WiFi is due for an update soon. Emails have been sent to testers to notify them of a new soak test on the way. There’s no way to know what this is at this point, but we are always skeptical about the arrival of new major versions of Android. My mind immediately assumes “bug fixer,” but you can never know for sure. If anyone out there gets the test update be sure to drop us a line about what’s different here. [Thanks … [Read more...]

Motorola launched the first Android Honeycomb tablet – the XOOM – without 4G despite the promise that it’d have those nice data-guzzling LTE radios from Verizon. Motorola promised to bring an upgrade program to enable cellular-connected XOOM units with 4G, and they came through. Users have been able to send their units in and receive them with 4G LTE goodness without fail. A year’s time has passed since the device’s launch, though, and we imagine that anyone who has 4G … [Read more...]
