Sony’s latest Xperia offerings aren’t lacking in style, and they are serviceable in the hardware department as well. If there is one area that easily falls under the “needs improvement” column it’s that devices like the Xperia S shipped with Android 2.3 and no quick plans to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich. Not long after Sony took the wraps off of the Xperia GX and Xperia SX we are being treated to our first look at another member of the Android lineup. The Sony ST26i will no doubt be an Android handset, and from the looks of things it should run Ice Cream Sandwich. Three hardware soft keys correspond to Android 4.0′s layout. Sony announces Xperia GX, Xperia SX for Japan

Sony has announced a few more members of its Xperia family, the Sony Xperia GX and Sony Xperia SX. Both handsets are headed for a Japanese release. The highlight of the Xperia GX is its 13MP Exmor R camera sensor, but it also features a 4.6-inch HD display and 1.5GHz dual-core processor. The Xperia SX features a 3.7-inch Bravia Reality Display, 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, and 8MP camera. The LTE-enabled handset claims to be the world’s lightest, weighing in at a mere 95 grams. Gossipy Google Ad Gives Away AT&T’s Grand Announcement, Sony Xperia Ion May Be Launching In June

An eager, eagle-eyed XDA member spotted a Google ad while searching for "xperia ion" that may be showing AT&T's hand concerning the release date of said device. One of a few ads that appear when searching for the device states that the Xperia Ion is "Coming Exclusively to AT&T in June." Well, that narrows it down a bit! Verizon Xperia Play receives update with great new enhancements

Verizon’s Xperia Play has received a new update that adds a couple of important enhancements, but also adds a bit more bloatware. To start, VZ Navigator and Video On-Demand have been pre-installed. The power button can be held down to take screenshots. The right trigger can be used as a camera button within the camera app. Finally, you can record video in 720p mode with continuous autofocus. Sony: Xperia ICS updates are still in progress

Sony took some time today to update the community on the progress of Ice Cream Sandwich rollouts. Sony originally promised that all devices released in 2011 would receive the upgrade (and all devices in 2012 naturally will, as well). Rollouts are still going on over in the nordic countries, and Sony say they continue to work with carriers to get the upgrade out to all of their phones in the various regions and on the various carriers they’re currently available.
